Pita

Ingredients

8 pieces

  • 2 tsp dried active yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2,5-3 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 drizzle of olive oil

Serve with Hummus.

Pita

Method

  1. Combine yeast, warm water and honey in a bowl and let it bloom for about 10 minutes. It should be foamy.
  2. Combine flour and salt, and add the yeast, water and honey mixture. Add a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Knead the dough to a ball, put it into a large bowl, cover it and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  4. Knead the dough again, form a ball, and let it rest in an oiled bowl for about another hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Meanwhile, preheat a cast-iron pan in your oven set to the highest setting.
  6. Devide the dough into 8 equal pieces (around 82 gramm per piece), form a ball and roll it out.
  7. Put one (not too thinly rolled out pita) into the hot skillet, and bake it for around 2.5 minutes, until it is slightly browned on top.
  8. Repeat this for all pitas.

Tip | Pita
You can store baked pita in the freezer. To enjoy it, put it in a cold oven at 150 degrees celsius for about 7-10 minutes.
