- 2 tsp dried active yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2,5-3 cups of flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 drizzle of olive oil
Serve with Hummus.
Pita
Method
- Combine yeast, warm water and honey in a bowl and let it bloom for about 10 minutes. It should be foamy.
- Combine flour and salt, and add the yeast, water and honey mixture. Add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Knead the dough to a ball, put it into a large bowl, cover it and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Knead the dough again, form a ball, and let it rest in an oiled bowl for about another hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Meanwhile, preheat a cast-iron pan in your oven set to the highest setting.
- Devide the dough into 8 equal pieces (around 82 gramm per piece), form a ball and roll it out.
- Put one (not too thinly rolled out pita) into the hot skillet, and bake it for around 2.5 minutes, until it is slightly browned on top.
- Repeat this for all pitas.
Tip | Pita
You can store baked pita in the freezer. To enjoy it, put it in a cold oven at 150 degrees celsius for about 7-10 minutes.
